Bringing Everyone Together Through Food, Art & Wellbeing
Creative Community Workshops Rooted In Food, Care and Connection
Our workshops use food, art, craft, and conversation as entry points to explore culture, support wellbeing, and strengthen connections across all ages and backgrounds. Each session is designed to be inclusive, accessible, and relevant — supporting participants to share knowledge, build creative skills, and form meaningful relationships through shared experiences.
At our Eid celebration at St. Margaret’s House, a young participant enjoys food and drawing as part of a workshop exploring care, culture, and creativity.

During an oral history workshop, participants brought meaningful personal objects and reflected on memory, identity, and heritage through storytelling and writing.
Why It Matters
In times of social isolation and financial pressure, our creative food and art workshops support mental health, foster cultural belonging, and build community resilience. We create welcoming spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds feel heard, seen, and valued — using creativity and shared food as tools for wellbeing, connection, and expression.
Communal Dining began with a friendship. Shahena, Rose, and Pierre met through local community projects in East London. Over time, we discovered a shared belief: that food, art and care are powerful tools for building connections across communities and generations.
We had worked together before, and we wanted to create something more permanent — a space where community-led ideas could grow into lasting projects.
What We’re Building
Communal Dining is preparing its first series of events and workshops — co-created with local communities, artists, and organisers.
We’re developing creative sessions around food, storytelling, craft, and wellbeing, with a strong focus on intergenerational connection and cross-community collaboration.
Our aim is to build lasting bonds, support cultural expression, and create spaces where people from all walks of life feel welcome, valued, and inspired.
